With many of the brick buildings in its downtown on the National Register of Historic Places, Perry has been designated both a Historic District and a Cultural District. Perry has also been named as one of the Iowa Great Places. The historic Hotel Pattee, renovated to its original Arts and Crafts charm and itself home to art by more than thirty artists, is a fitting backdrop for Perry’s first art festival. Art will be exhibited in the hotel’s ballroom, conference rooms, and lobby. Two other beautifully renovated buildings in the same block will also house the exhibit: the Town Craft building, http://www.design.iastate.edu/TownCraft/ and the Carnegie Library Museum, http://hpi.design.iastate.edu/carnegielibrarymuseum.php. In addition to to the Art on the Prairie festival, Perry is hosting their annual Holiday Open House with area businesses.

The Hotel Pattee is offering discounted rates for the weekend, 30 rooms for $99 and 10 suites for $189. Each of the rooms is individually decorated to celebrate the history, tradition, and people who make-up the region. Each of the 40 individually decorated and themed guest rooms tells it’s own story, preserving history, celebrating ethnicities, honoring craftsmanship, and paying tribute to the people who make up the region. www.hotelpattee.com
